An animated Christmas card instead of a paper one! But what kind?

At Christmas time the jumble of adverts dazzles the eye. Elves and a Christmas tree, a sack of presents and Father Christmas, and elves once again! Is there still a chance to stand out in this picture? Of course there is. We will make you a charming animation that is like a cartoon, with music and sounds, movement and characters. And all of it as a video, which we will put on a separate web page, and you can add the link to that page to your e-mail. If you wish, we can also give you the source files, so that you can use the animation again next year, or use its fragments or illustrations on, say, Independence Day or Shrove Tuesday.

About 12 years ago the boom in animated Christmas cards began – anything that moved and was in some way Christmassy sold well. In the early days the most common animation program was Adobe Flash, which was mostly mastered only by IT guys, most of whom couldn’t draw. So, unfortunately, they had to make do with modifying ready-made clip art and adding interactive game elements. It seemed that every possible scenario featuring an elf and a company logo had already been used. But then more varied Christmas cards began to appear as well – they either involved black humour or simply tried to distance themselves skilfully from the traditional tinsel and glitter. Sometimes, admittedly, not quite successfully – at times the result was a commercial in which advertising the company carried more weight than the good wishes. Treating the subject as differently as possible also became a value in itself. Christmas cards were even ranked… People simply like watching videos. And getting letters. The stunningly beautiful designs we have seen on paper cards can also be carried over into video.
